A practical two day course designed for people who work in the outdoors or who use the outdoors for pleasure. This course is suitable for Individuals, Teachers, Outdoor Instructors, Health Walk Leaders, Climbers, Canoeists, Sailors in fact any one, ML, SPA, BCU, RYA, BOF, MIA, MIC, BASI, etc.
The outdoor environment nearly always means that the casualty has to be looked after for a longer timescale than is typical in a more urban setting. All of our Outdoor First Aid courses look at how to manage the situation when the ambulance does not turn up in 10 minutes time and are appropriate if your work or leisure place is remote. This qualification has been developed to meet the requirements of the worker or practitioner in the outdoor environment. It is suitable for workers in remote locations and will maintain the license to practice for those with Outdoor National Governing Body Instructor Awards. Course Duration
2 - day (8 x 2-hour sessions) Experienced professional trainer with an active interest in First Aid training, understanding the specific needs of various outdoor environments. Trainers typically have knowledge of your workplace and follow Health and Safety approved code of practice guidelines.
On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:
Follow a systematic approach to incident management in the outdoors,
Understand unconsciousness, causes and treatment,
Treat external bleeding, internal bleeding and shock.
Resuscitation procedures including choking.
Awareness of current regulations
Injury management outdoors.
Illness recognition and management
Managing thermal (heat, cold) problems, Core Heating, Core cooling
Incident management scenarios

Interactive hands on practical training indoors and outside
Typically 70% / 30% practical/theory session ratio
One CPR training manikin per 2 participants
Use of recommended first aid kit
Easy to follow individual course booklet
An accredited, recognised certificate valid for 3 years
Re-validation
Attending another 16-hour Outdoor First Aid course in 3 years time re-validates this certificate.
External Certification
Certificates are issued by an Ofqual Approved awarding organisation.
